Installing a human-readable, easy to use editor is probably one of the first things you'll want to do after installing Drupal. A WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) text editor enables you to quickly edit and add content to your website by simply entering text and images that are automatically formatted and converted to html by your editor as you type. In this way, you never have to worry about fiddling about with messy html code.

To install a WYSIWYG editor in Drupal, perform the following steps:

1. Download the WYSIWYG API from http://drupal.org/project/wysiwyg and copy it into your drupal/modules directory.

2. Go to your website's administrator site building->modules pages and enable the WYSIWYG module by checking the box.

3. Navigate back to your administrator pages and choose Administer by Module (you can also simply navigate to your site --> /admin/by-module).

4. Go to the WYSIWYG configuration pages by clicking on the WYSIWYG module. Download the editor of your choice by following the links in the WYSIWYG installation instruction page (we like to use TinyMCE).

5. Extract the files of your editor into the directory specified by the WYSIWYG Installation Instructions page.

6. Refresh the WYSIWYG configuration pages by pressing F5 or the "Refresh" button on your browser. This should now enable you to choose your editor by specifying it in the dropdown menu.

7. You can further configure your editor options by following the "Edit" link for your editor on the WYSIWYG configuration page. These options allow you to change the appearance and enable or disable features specific to your editor.

Now, when you want to edit content either on the administrator or the website pages directory, you'll have a familiar, easy to use interface to make the task simple and enjoyable!
